Food plays a very important role in maintaining good health. The food we eat is an invaluable gift given to us by ‘Mother Nature.’ Nature provides it to us in its absolutely pure and raw form. We cook it to make it readily eatable. The place where we do this is our kitchen which becomes a major platform for producing a good, wholesome and healthy meal for the entire family.
Here are home remedies which help with acidity, stomach discomfort and constipation. In this article we are going to discuss about some specific digestive problems.

Acidity is the condition of producing more than the normal amount of acid in stomach. It occurs, when hydrochloric acid, an essential component of the digestive juices, is produced in excess.
Possible Indications: Burning sensation in stomach & throat, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, uneasiness, burning sensation in esophagus after a meal, frequent hunger & dry throat, flatulence after a meal, regurgitation of acid into esophagus etc.
Chew on a piece of Chebulic fruit (available also as supplements) between meals.
Drink cold milk 3 to 4 times a day.
Drink carrot juice and juice of Pomegranate.
Use Coriander, black pepper, Cumin seeds during cooking, for easy digestion.
Take fiber rich food.
Take Indian gooseberry.
Make a mix of Black pepper, dry Ginger, Coriander, Garlic, powders with rock salt and roasted Cumin seeds, each in equal weight and pulverize them. Take half teaspoon of this powder with lukewarm water, every day.
Have dinner at least 2 to 3 hours before going to bed.
Eat yogurt sweetened with a little sugar.
Use Garlic in food.
This is the term that is generally associated with common pain in the abdominal region. It occurs due to constipation, indigestion, excessive gas, etc.
Possible Indications: Loss of appetite, vomiting, uncomfortable feeling & pain in stomach.
Drink a glass of hot water. If it is due to flatulence, drink plain soda water.
Add rock salt powder to lemon juice, add water and drink this twice a day.
Take equal quantities of roasted Cumin seeds, dry Mint leaves, Coriander, Garlic, Rock salt, and Black pepper. Pulverize this and take 1 teaspoon of this mixture with lukewarm water every day.
Carom seeds along with hot water can help to relieve stomach discomfort.
If stomach discomfort is due to dehydration or indigestion, it is advisable to take a cup of water with a few drops of Mint extract 2 to 3 times a day.
Constipation home remedies -
Constipation is a disturbance of the Digestive Tract. It is caused by abnormally delayed or infrequent passage of dry hardened stools.
Possible Indications: Difficulty in passing the stools, coated tongue, foul breath, headaches, uneasiness, and loss of appetite, dizziness, nausea, and feeling of fullness in the abdomen.
Take Billerica, Chebula, and Indian gooseberry extracts in equal weight, pulverize this mix and take one teaspoonful with warm water at bed time (also available as supplements called Triphala).
Eating Guava fruit or extracts is another effective remedy for constipation.
Eat Oranges, Grapes, and Papaya fruits.
Food should contain wholegrain cereals, honey, leafy vegetables, etc.
Take a cup of warm milk with one teaspoonful of Clarified butter before going to bed.
